Packaging Design

The Challenge

Valhalla Ice Cream has been an iconic Tasmanian brand for over 20 years. They required a packaging refresh for the main 1 litre range without losing the connection to their brand heritage with a growing range of 30 mouth watering flavours.

The Strategy

As brand specialists we engaged in extensive research which showed that although the consumer had a strong affinity to the existing products, it was sometimes difficult to distinguish between the different flavours. This was especially true as the product was displayed in various types of freezers, so the tubs and lids had to communicate in a consistent and legible style.

Existing colours were maintained with new fonts and cleaner product photography combining to give a cleaner and clearer decluttered look. This change was flowed though the entire range, giving it consistency of messaging and the ability to showcase the Valhalla branding. 

The Impact

The ice-cream is truly loved though the use of fresh Tasmanian cream and flavours sourced from local seasonal fruits and produce. Combined with the new packaging that has been well received, it has created a busy time for the Valhalla team.
